Thoracic cancer affects the chest area, including the lungs, trachea, bronchi, and pleura.
The signs and symptoms of thoracic cancer include wheezing or shortness of breath, a new cough that doesn’t go with time, blood-coloured mucus, fatigue, hoarseness, chest pain, breathing difficulties etc. While lung cancer is the most common type, other types of thoracic cancer include mesothelioma, a cancer of the pleura caused by exposure to asbestos, and thymoma, a tumour of the thymus gland.
The advanced diagnostic modalities facilitate precise detection of the location and stage of cancer, helping the doctor prepare a customised treatment plan. The medical examination may include chest X-Ray, biopsy, MRI, PET CT Scans, and sputum cytology.
Our oncologists, along with specialists from other departments, provide comprehensive treatment for thoracic cancer via surgery, targeted therapy, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and more.
